l have a fundraiser coming back on our campus and l printed out fliers, woke up early in the morning and stuffed the fliers in several campus newspapers. Am l allowed to do this without their permission? Could l get in trouble for it?

l think it depends on their policies.

It depends on your campus guidelines. Some schools only allow fliers to be posted that have been approved by the Student Service or another appropriate office. Tomorrow, go to the appropriate office and seek the necessary approval(s). l would not necessary worry about what you've posted so far.

In law you can not tamper with their merchandise.
Campus newspapers may sell advertising and in this case they should see your action as an end-run to cheat them of revenue.

Any person observing this ethical breach would have reason to doubt that your intentions are ethical. So, if tolerated it is still not ethical without their approval.

The newspaper also has an editorial right to refuse advertising even when asked.

Get in trouble?? maybe - maybe not.. Just do it. whats the worst they can do??? Give u the death penalty? Sue you? -- Just do it . Those campus papers r usually free so its not like they r going to get a loss..

The worst they can do is piss & moan a little, maybe send u a nasty letter.. If its a fundraiser for a non profit then l would not worry to much... If its for profit they might squeak a bit because u did not pay for add space..

If they call & complain just apologize. tell them u handed a stack of flyers to some students that said they would get them out. Then play dumb & tell them it wont happen again.. You just have no idea who did that??? My kid did that for a rave party way back in the day & they squawked a little then went away.

No you are not allowed to do that, and yes you can get in trouble for it.
